What regular cleaning services provide?

Regular Home Cleaning

Regular cleaning — also known as subscription cleaning or maintenance cleaning — addresses these challenges by establishing a fixed schedule of professional visits. Unlike one-time deep cleaning, which addresses accumulated dirt and neglect, regular cleaning maintains cleanliness through consistent, scheduled attention.

The scope of regular cleaning

A typical regular cleaning visit covers the essential tasks that keep a home fresh, tidy and hygienic:

  • Living areas and bedrooms Vacuuming carpets, rugs and upholstered furniture; mopping hard floors; dusting all accessible surfaces, including furniture, shelves and decorative items; dusting light fixtures, ceiling fans and vents; wiping down door handles, light switches and other frequently touched surfaces; making beds and changing bed linens (when requested); tidying and organising items; emptying waste bins.
  • Kitchens Cleaning and sanitising countertops and work surfaces; wiping down cabinet fronts and handles; cleaning the exterior of appliances (refrigerator, oven, microwave, dishwasher); cleaning the sink and taps; washing dishes or loading/unloading the dishwasher; cleaning the stovetop and hood; mopping the floor; emptying bins and replacing liners.
  • Bathrooms Cleaning and disinfecting toilets (inside and out); cleaning sinks, taps and vanity surfaces; cleaning mirrors; cleaning shower enclosures, bathtubs and tiles; wiping down bathroom fixtures and accessories; mopping floors; replenishing towels (when requested); emptying bins.
  • Additional tasks often included Ironing clothes; folding and organising laundry; changing bed linens; organising wardrobes and drawers; light tidying of children's play areas.

What regular cleaning does not typically include

To set appropriate expectations, regular cleaning visits focus on maintenance rather than intensive restoration. Tasks that fall outside standard regular cleaning include:

  1. Cooking and meal preparation this requires different skills and often food safety certifications.
  2. Laundry washing operating washing machines and handling wet laundry is typically separate from cleaning services.
  3. Deep cleaning tasks such as cleaning inside ovens, descaling appliances, washing windows inside and out, cleaning behind heavy furniture, or addressing heavily soiled areas.
  4. Specialised cleaning carpet shampooing, upholstery deep cleaning, or high-reach areas requiring equipment.

These tasks can usually be arranged separately or added to regular visits for an additional fee when needed.

Who benefits most from regular cleaning

Regular cleaning services are suitable for a wide range of households, but their value becomes especially clear in situations where time, energy or physical capacity are limited. By removing cleaning from the list of ongoing responsibilities, regular services support both practical comfort and overall quality of life.

  • Busy professionals For people with demanding careers, time is often the most limited resource. Long working hours, commuting, business travel and constant mental engagement leave little energy for household maintenance. Regular cleaning ensures that the home remains a place of rest and recovery, rather than another obligation competing for attention. Returning to a consistently clean home helps reduce stress, supports better sleep and allows professionals to fully disconnect from work. Removing cleaning from the mental to-do list also reduces cognitive load, freeing attention for more meaningful activities. In addition, a well-maintained home makes it easy to host colleagues or business guests without last-minute preparation or anxiety.
  • Young families Households with young children experience a constant cycle of mess. Toys, food spills, laundry and fingerprints appear faster than most parents can manage, often alongside limited time and physical exhaustion. Regular cleaning provides steady support by maintaining hygiene and order without requiring parents to sacrifice family time. A consistently clean environment is especially important for children's health, reducing exposure to dust and allergens. At the same time, regular cleaning helps parents focus on time together rather than on chores, while also modelling the importance of clean, organised living spaces for children as they grow.
  • Dual-income households When both partners work full-time, household responsibilities often become a source of tension. Cleaning tasks can feel unevenly distributed, leading to frustration, negotiation and unnecessary conflict. Regular cleaning removes a significant portion of domestic labour from the equation. By outsourcing routine cleaning, both partners benefit equally. Weekends become free for rest and shared activities rather than catch-up cleaning, and the mental burden of managing household tasks is reduced. This often leads to improved communication and a more balanced home dynamic.
  • Individuals living alone Living alone does not eliminate the need for cleaning – it concentrates all responsibility on one person. Work demands, social commitments and personal interests often push household tasks to the background, resulting in inconsistent standards and occasional guilt. Regular cleaning ensures stability even during busy periods. It eliminates the need to spend free time on solitary chores and provides the simple pleasure of returning to a clean, orderly home. For many individuals, this consistency supports better routines and overall wellbeing.
  • Elderly residents and people with limited mobility For older adults or those with physical limitations, many cleaning tasks become difficult or unsafe. Bending, reaching high surfaces, moving furniture or scrubbing floors can cause pain or increase the risk of injury. Regular cleaning offers practical assistance that allows individuals to remain in their homes comfortably and safely. Beyond hygiene, regular visits provide continuity and reassurance, as the same cleaner becomes familiar with the home and its needs. This support helps maintain independence while reducing physical strain and risk.
  • Rental property tenants Tenants have a responsibility to maintain their living space in good condition throughout their tenancy. Regular cleaning helps prevent gradual neglect that can lead to disputes or deposit deductions at the end of the lease. By maintaining consistent standards, tenants ensure smoother inspections, protect their security deposits and enjoy their rental home as a genuinely comfortable living environment rather than a temporary space that gradually deteriorates.

What is the price?

Housemaids at Domestina.Bg are freelancers and set their own prices. The platform does not take a percentage of their earnings, 100% of the amount the client pays stays with them. This ensures that the prices are the best possible on the market.

The platform funds its activities through Domestina Club, which gives customers access to housemaids. Domestina Club costs 49 € for the first month and 9.90 € for each month thereafter. It can be canceled at any time without penalty. Domestina Club starts by default with the first housemaid order.

Can I be visited by the same housemaid every time?

The FIX subscription ensures that you will be visited by the same housemaid every time, fixing the same day and hour every week. With other types of services, you can book the provider you want only if it's available.

Is there a bi weekly subscription?

You want regular visits, but once a week is too frequent. Use the FLEX option. You will be able to order one-time visits for all available housemaids. This includes exclusive housemaids which are available only for one-off visits

Do I have to be present during the visit?

Your presence during the visits is your decision. The only important thing is to provide access at the beginning and a way the contractor can secure the property when the visit is done.

How to select a housemaid?

Why is maintaining a clean home harder than it seems?

Dust accumulates continuously, floors collect dirt from daily movement, and kitchens and bathrooms require constant attention to remain hygienic. Even in well-organised households, deeper cleaning tasks quickly build up.

For an average home, weekly cleaning easily takes 3–4 hours, and more for larger properties. When motivation is low or schedules are full, cleaning is postponed, tasks accumulate and the effort required increases. This cycle creates stress and never delivers lasting cleanliness.

The challenge of maintaining a clean home

Keeping a home consistently clean is more demanding than it might appear. Dust settles continuously, surfaces attract fingerprints and smudges, floors collect dirt from daily foot traffic, and bathrooms and kitchens require constant attention to remain hygienic. Even in a household where everyone contributes to tidying, the deeper cleaning tasks accumulate faster than most people can address them.

The time factor

Consider the time required for thorough weekly cleaning of an average home:

  1. Vacuuming and mopping floors across all rooms 45-90 minutes depending on home size.
  2. Bathroom cleaning including toilet, shower, sink and surfaces 20-30 minutes per bathroom.
  3. Kitchen cleaning including countertops, appliances, sink and floor 30-45 minutes.
  4. Dusting all surfaces, shelves, furniture and decorative items 30-60 minutes.
  5. Bedroom tidying including making beds and organising 15-20 minutes per bedroom.
  6. General tidying and organisation 20-40 minutes.

For a modest two-bedroom apartment, basic weekly cleaning requires approximately 3-4 hours [1].

For larger homes with multiple bathrooms, the time investment increases proportionally. And this estimate assumes efficient, focused work — in reality, cleaning often takes longer when interrupted by other household activities or when tackling neglected areas that require extra attention.

The consistency challenge

Beyond the time investment, maintaining consistent cleaning standards presents its own difficulties:

  1. Energy fluctuations After a demanding work week, mustering the motivation for thorough cleaning can feel impossible.
  2. Competing priorities Weekend time becomes precious for family activities, social engagements, rest and recreation.
  3. Skill and technique Effective cleaning requires knowledge of proper methods, appropriate products for different surfaces, and efficient workflows.
  4. Cumulative neglect When cleaning is postponed, tasks accumulate and become more difficult, creating a discouraging cycle.

The result for many households is inconsistent cleaning that fluctuates between intensive weekend sessions and periods of neglect. This pattern creates stress, reduces comfort and never achieves the sustained cleanliness that makes a home truly pleasant to live in.

How the subscription model works

Regular cleaning services operate on a subscription model designed to provide consistency, predictability and long-term value. Instead of booking individual cleaning sessions each time, you establish an ongoing arrangement that keeps your home consistently clean with minimal effort on your part.

Fixed weekly schedule

At the core of the subscription model is a fixed weekly schedule. You choose a specific day and time that suits your routine, and this slot becomes reserved exclusively for your home. Your cleaner arrives at the same time every week, creating a reliable rhythm that fits seamlessly into your daily life.

This fixed arrangement offers several advantages:

  • you always know when your home will be cleaned;
  • cleaning never gets postponed or forgotten;
  • dirt and clutter never have time to accumulate;
  • your schedule remains predictable and easy to plan around.

Consistency in timing is one of the main reasons subscription cleaning delivers better results than occasional or ad-hoc bookings.

The same cleaner every visit

One of the most valuable benefits of the subscription model is continuity. The same cleaner visits your home every week, which allows them to become familiar with:

  • the layout of your home and how spaces are used;
  • your priorities and expectations;
  • surfaces or items that need special care;
  • areas that require more attention than others.

Over time, this familiarity leads to higher efficiency and better cleaning quality. The cleaner works faster, wastes no time learning the space and delivers results that align closely with your preferences. Just as importantly, regular visits build trust and comfort, as you know exactly who is entering your home and how the work is done.

Minimum commitment and long-term flexibility

Most subscription cleaning services include a short minimum commitment, typically covering the first few visits. This period allows:

  • the cleaner to learn your home and establish an effective routine;
  • you to experience the benefits of regular cleaning without long-term obligation;
  • both sides to confirm that the arrangement is a good fit.

After the minimum commitment, the subscription continues on a flexible basis. You can usually pause, adjust or cancel the service with notice, making it easy to adapt to changing circumstances.

Built-in flexibility for real life

While the subscription model is structured, it is designed to accommodate real-life situations. Most services allow:

  • a limited number of free postponements for travel, guests or personal reasons;
  • schedule adjustments if your routine changes, subject to availability;
  • substitute cleaners when your regular cleaner is unavailable due to illness or holidays.

Substitute cleaners are typically briefed on your home and preferences, ensuring service continuity even when your usual cleaner cannot attend.

Why the subscription model works better

The subscription approach shifts cleaning from a reactive task to a preventive system. Instead of waiting until your home feels dirty, regular visits maintain a consistently high standard. This results in:

  • less intensive work per visit;
  • better preservation of surfaces and furnishings;
  • improved hygiene and indoor comfort;
  • lower stress, as cleaning is no longer a recurring concern.

In practice, the subscription model turns cleaning into a background service that simply works, leaving you free to focus on your work, family and personal time while enjoying a home that is always clean and welcoming.

The psychological benefits of a consistently clean home

A consistently clean home offers benefits that go far beyond visual appeal. The state of our living environment has a direct impact on how we feel, think and function on a daily basis. Clean, orderly spaces reduce mental noise and create a sense of calm that is difficult to achieve in cluttered or neglected surroundings.

When a home is clean, the brain no longer has to process constant visual reminders of unfinished tasks. Piles of dust, unwashed surfaces or disorganised spaces quietly signal "work left undone", even when we are trying to rest [3]. Regular cleaning removes this background stress, allowing the mind to relax fully and focus on more meaningful activities. This reduction in mental load often leads to improved mood, lower anxiety levels and a greater sense of control over daily life.

Clean environments also support better focus and productivity. Whether working from home, managing household responsibilities or simply trying to enjoy free time, an orderly space helps the brain concentrate without distraction. People often find that they make decisions more easily, feel less overwhelmed and approach tasks with greater clarity when their surroundings are clean and well maintained.

Sleep quality is another area closely linked to home cleanliness. Bedrooms that are regularly cleaned, dust-free and fresh create conditions that support deeper, more restorative sleep. Knowing that your home is in order before going to bed removes the nagging awareness of chores waiting to be done, helping the body and mind transition into rest more smoothly.

Consistent cleanliness also has a powerful social effect. When your home is always presentable, inviting guests becomes effortless. There is no last-minute rush to clean, no embarrassment and no stress associated with unexpected visitors. This ease encourages a more active social life and strengthens the sense that your home is a welcoming place rather than a source of pressure.

Over time, regular cleaning creates a positive cycle. Because dirt and residue are removed before they become stubborn problems, the home becomes easier to maintain and less demanding overall. This reinforces a sense of stability and comfort, turning the home into a true sanctuary – a place that supports wellbeing, relaxation and balance rather than contributing to daily stress.

How regular cleaning improves cleaning outcomes

At first glance, it may seem counter-intuitive, but homes that are cleaned regularly actually become easier to maintain over time. Regular cleaning creates a positive cycle in which each visit builds on the previous one, gradually reducing the effort required while improving overall results.

When cleaning takes place on a weekly basis, problems are addressed at an early stage, before they have time to become embedded. Dust is removed before it forms thick layers that cling to surfaces, spills are wiped away before they stain or turn sticky, and soap residue in bathrooms is cleaned before it hardens into a difficult scale. In kitchens, grease is removed while it is still fresh, preventing it from polymerising into stubborn residue that requires aggressive scrubbing. This preventive approach means that each cleaning session is lighter, faster and more effective than sporadic deep efforts.

Regular cleaning also plays a key role in protecting the home itself. Dust particles are mildly abrasive, and when left to accumulate they gradually scratch wood, glass and delicate surfaces. Frequent removal helps preserve finishes and furniture. In bathrooms, consistent cleaning prevents mineral deposits and soap scum from damaging tiles, grout and fixtures. In kitchens, keeping surfaces free of grease protects cabinetry, worktops and appliances while also reducing fire risks. Floors benefit as well, as regular removal of grit and debris slows wear and prolongs the life of flooring materials.

Another important benefit is the stability of cleanliness standards. With regular attention, the home never swings between extremes of "just cleaned" and "heavily neglected". Instead, it remains at a consistently comfortable level of cleanliness. This stability makes everyday life easier, allows guests to visit at any time without preparation and ensures that the psychological benefits of a clean environment are continuous rather than occasional.

Finally, regular cleaning helps identify small issues early. Spills, leaks, mould spots or wear on surfaces are noticed and addressed before they escalate into larger, more costly problems. Over time, this proactive approach not only improves cleaning outcomes but also contributes to a better-maintained, more pleasant and longer-lasting home environment.

Seasonal considerations

Cleaning needs naturally change throughout the year, as seasons affect how we live, ventilate our homes and use different spaces. One of the key advantages of regular cleaning is that it can adapt smoothly to these seasonal shifts, ensuring the home remains comfortable and hygienic all year round.

Spring

Spring marks the transition from closed, heated winter interiors to a fresher, more ventilated living environment. As windows are opened more frequently and daylight increases, dust, fingerprints and streaks become far more noticeable. Window areas, sills and frames often require additional attention during this period. Spring is also the time when many households change wardrobes, putting away winter clothing and bringing out lighter garments, which may create a need for extra organisation and surface cleaning. Increased outdoor activity means more dirt, pollen and debris are tracked inside, making regular floor and entryway cleaning especially important.

Summer

During the summer months, household routines often change due to holidays, travel and more social activity. Cleaning schedules may need flexibility to accommodate time away from home. At the same time, hosting guests becomes more frequent, which calls for additional attention to living areas, bathrooms and guest spaces. Open windows allow fresh air to circulate but also bring in more dust and outdoor particles. Air conditioning units and ventilation grilles work harder in summer and benefit from regular cleaning to maintain air quality and efficiency.

Autumn

Autumn signals a gradual return to indoor living. As temperatures drop, windows are closed more often and heating systems are switched on, circulating dust that may have settled during the warmer months. Wet weather increases the amount of moisture and mud brought into the home, especially in entryways and high-traffic areas. This season is also a period of preparation for autumn and early winter gatherings, making consistent cleaning important for keeping the home presentable and comfortable.

Winter

Winter is typically the most demanding season for household cleanliness. Holiday entertaining significantly increases the use of kitchens, dining areas and guest rooms, all of which require extra care. With more time spent indoors, everyday mess accumulates faster, and shared spaces need more frequent attention. Limited daylight during winter months makes cleanliness even more noticeable, as bright, clean interiors help counterbalance darker days and create a sense of warmth and comfort.

The value proposition of regular cleaning

Regular cleaning represents more than a simple exchange of money for cleaned surfaces. It offers:

  • Time freedom Every hour your cleaner works is an hour you don't have to. Over a year, weekly 3-hour cleaning visits return 156 hours to your life — nearly four full work weeks of time for family, friends, hobbies, rest, or productive work.
  • Mental relief Eliminating cleaning from your responsibility list provides psychological benefit beyond the time saved. The mental load of tracking what needs cleaning, feeling guilty about what's been neglected, and worrying about home conditions for visitors — all of this disappears.
  • Consistent comfort Instead of the rollercoaster of intensive cleaning followed by gradual deterioration, you enjoy stable cleanliness. Your home is always presentable, always comfortable, always welcoming.
  • Protected relationships Household cleaning is a common source of domestic tension. Regular cleaning eliminates this friction, removing a potential source of conflict and freeing your interactions from task negotiations.
  • Health benefits Professional regular cleaning provides better hygiene than most DIY efforts. Consistent dust removal, thorough bathroom sanitisation, and kitchen hygiene contribute to healthier living environments.
  • Professional results A trained cleaner with proper products and techniques produces better results than hurried amateur efforts. You benefit from professional-quality cleaning without developing professional-level skills yourself.

Regular cleaning services transform home maintenance from a perpetual challenge into a smoothly managed aspect of daily life. By establishing a consistent schedule with a dedicated professional cleaner, you ensure your home remains clean, organised and welcoming without sacrificing your valuable time and energy.

The subscription model provides maximum consistency and value: the same trusted cleaner arrives at the same time each week, becoming intimately familiar with your home and preferences. Built-in flexibility accommodates life's variations while maintaining the reliable foundation of regular visits.

Whether you're a busy professional seeking work-life balance, a parent wanting more quality time with family, a couple looking to eliminate a source of domestic friction, or simply someone who prefers to spend free time on more fulfilling activities, regular cleaning offers a practical solution.

The investment pays returns in multiple currencies: hours reclaimed, stress reduced, relationships improved, health protected, and consistent comfort enjoyed. For many households, regular cleaning isn't a luxury — it's a sensible allocation of resources that enhances quality of life.
